Hey Pank, Gomer, Aunt Bea, et al:

Some info for those who may not know:

Mayberry aka Mt. Airy NC, is the "city of granite". Rocks were just popping up out of the ground everywhere! Crazy!

The mountain pic is of Pilot Mountain. (eyeball may be most interested and want to google this for more information). In the show, they called it "Mt. Pilot".

Otis (the local guy pictured), told me that the truck in the pic was actually the one they used in the show.

Me and my Grandpa watched that show every evening as a kid waiting for my mom to come pick me up. I always loved that show. And Gomer Pyle was my favorite character on the show. Shazam Shazam Shazam!

Wow, lotsa comments on here now, guess I should check back now and again. Never did tell the story of the Barney Fife statue, it was something like they wanted to make a Don Knotts statue for his home town, and his estate was cool with that, but then they found out it was going to be as Barney Fife and they wern't so cool with that. Was it going to end up being in Mayberry??? I don't recall, I'm a vast wading pool of information.

The Hooty Hoo was adopted by Mark and Brian years ago, and to this day you'll hear callers greet them with Hooty Hoo.

I had to go back and look at the pictures again, I thought for a moment that Gonk was talking about something else when she made reference to rubbing the purple Buddha's tummy, LMAO!!!
